I'm applying for the Software Engineer, Payments Platform role at Contoso Pay. I'm a backend engineer at Fabrikam Retail, where for three years I've built and run the Java services behind our checkout.

Your posting asks for REST APIs, AWS and on-call experience. I built the order and refund APIs our web and mobile apps use, moved two of our services to Kubernetes on AWS with my team, and take part in our on-call rotation, including writing the postmortems for incidents I worked on. I review code most days and added integration tests to the checkout service.

Payments is the part of checkout I've enjoyed most, and I'd like to work on it full time. I've used Python for internal tools and would be glad to use it more.
