Sample customer service representative cover letter

Dear Hiring Team,

I'm applying for the Customer Service Representative role at Woodgrove Bank. For the past two years I've answered phone and live chat questions for Contoso Home, a retailer of home goods, handling orders, returns and billing questions.

Your posting asks for calm handling of escalations and accurate notes. When a customer is upset, I listen to the whole problem first, repeat it back, and say what I will do and when. I log every contact in our ticketing system so the next person can pick it up without asking the customer again, and I write knowledge base notes when I find an answer that is missing.

Banking is new for me, but much of the work is the same: careful answers, privacy, and following up. I'm available for the evening and weekend shifts listed in the posting.

Thank you for considering me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards, Taylor Sample

Why this letter works

  • It names the channels (phone, chat) and the kinds of questions handled.
  • It shows how the person handles an escalation instead of only saying "great communication skills".
  • It is honest about a gap (banking) and says what carries over.

How to write your customer service representative cover letter

  1. Say which channels you have worked (phone, chat, email, in person) and what customers asked about.
  2. Describe how you handle a difficult call in two or three plain steps.
  3. If the posting lists shifts or a language, answer that directly.
  4. Keep it under a page, and read it against the posting once more before you send it.

Write yours from your own resume

CareerGenius writes a cover letter from your resume and the job posting, and checks every sentence against your resume before you see it. You edit it and send it.
